Enhancing stability through diversification

Against the backdrop of high inflationary pressures and rising rates, the Russian Ukraine war has raised concerns that a global commodity crunch might further exacerbate already elevated inflation figures and potentially propel economies into a recession with equity markets expected to remain highly volatile over the near to midterm, investors have started to seek more defensive, safe haven options.

With current Marco uncertainties still plaguing the markets and a potential looming recession ahead diversification has become even more crucial, and clients should be selective as they stay engaged with equity markets, seeking exposure to value and quality sectors and regions which have a lower correlation to commodity prices and global trade flows.

Why we like the fund

The Fidelity Global Multi Asset Income Fund provides a consistent income stream through quality security selection ensuring a stable yield over the market cycles with relatively lower drawdown during difficult market conditions. Having a broad geographical diversification is also key in navigating current market as geopolitical tensions remains high. This multi asset strategy of the fund also enable a flexible allocation towards equities and bonds which help to reduces overall portfolio volatility. Alternatives such as infrastructure securities and REITs further help smoothen overall volatility. As we are looking to overweight in Asia, this fund provides an Asian tilt which enable investors to be exposed more towards the Asia Pacific ex-Japan region as compared to the other region.
